’KID WORKS® DELUXE’ IS UPDATED WITH NEW TECHNOLOGY
New version of popular creativity software program runs on latest Windows and Macintosh systems
Torrance, Calif. – January 24, 2007 – Kid Works® Deluxe, the creative writing and reading
software program, has been updated with new technology and an all-new look. The new
version will be released in March 2007 by Knowledge Adventure®, the leader in
educational software for the home and the classroom, and has been upgraded to run on
Windows® Vista and Macintosh® OS X systems.
An all-in-one publishing tool, Kid Works Deluxe combines a word processor and paint
program that allow elementary school students to create media–rich stories. With its
completely redesigned interface, Kid Works Deluxe makes it easier than ever for
students to expand their writing and reading skills.
Students can write stories from scratch and illustrate them in the painting module, which
has been updated with 54 new textures and gives users the ability to import jpeg files as
well as their own photos. Kid Works Deluxe also offers new cross–curricular, ready–made
projects featuring math, science, social studies and more, to help students begin the
writing process.
Updated text–to–speech technology will enable students to more clearly hear their stories read aloud by the computer, thereby strengthening their reading skills. As with the current version, the new Kid Works Deluxe has a recording feature, an invaluable
reading tool, which allows students to record their stories in their own voices.
”Kid Works Deluxe has been a staple software program in elementary schools for 10
years,” said David Blumstein, chief executive officer for Knowledge Adventure. ”It has
been many years since the program has undergone a major revision and we felt it was
time to take advantage of the new technologies to make this program even better.” As
with other Knowledge Adventure programs, Kid Works Deluxe fosters a school–to–home
connection. Finished stories can be easily printed and emailed to play on home
computers that do not have Kid Works Deluxe installed.
System Requirements and Pricing Kid Works Deluxe runs on Windows XP and Vista and Macintosh OS X systems. The
software sells for $30 per license and is also available as an unlimited network version
for $899.
